Most Common Scalp Problem

By: Eric Minden

People around the world suffer from scalp problems. These problems can range
from serious to simple skin conditions. All scalp problems can be treated, however
there is nothing that will treat all of the problems, since each condition is
different from the other.

The most common scalp problems include:

-Dry skin which is one of the easiest conditions to heal. Generally, all you
need to is moisturize. Many people who have dry scalp also have dry hair. If
this sounds like what you may have, then you should not shampoo your hair
everyday, as this will wash away the natural oil on your scalp. If you can
avoid using a hair dryer or any other heated tool, you should. The more heat
you use on your hair the dryer your hair and scalp will be.

-Oily scalp is also a well known condition. This condition will cause your
hair to look as though you have put in too much product or gel. To cut back
on the appearance of an oily scalp you should use a shampoo and a conditioner
that is made for oily hair. Also, showering daily will help wash away any
excess oil from your hair, thus helping with the appearance of healthy hair
and a healthy scalp.

-Hair loss can be caused by other medical conditions such as stress, emotional
distress and even hormone changes. Treatment for this condition depends on the
severity of your condition and what has caused it to occur.

-Scalp sores are common and can be treated, yet at the same time if the sores
do not go away after a few times of shampooing your hair, you could have a more
serious condition that should be discussed with your doctor.

-Dandruff is known to occur in every person at some point or another. Men, women,
and even some children will show signs of dandruff, as this is the most common
scalp condition. Dandruff can be treated with the right type of anti-dandruff
shampoos. Although, the same shampoo will not treat each case of dandruff,
therefore a doctor may have to prescribe a shampoo that will work for your
specific case.

If you have signs of a scalp condition you can treat it yourself or talk to
your doctor if the symptoms get worse.
